BC inland ferries

British Columbia runs fourteen inland ferries as part of the highway system, and they work nothing like a coastal sailing. Every one is free. There is no reservation and no ticket. Nine of them have no timetable at all: they cross when someone is waiting, and four carry only two vehicles at a time, which tells you more about the wait than any schedule could.

For places like Glade, Harrop and Southbank these are not a shortcut. They are the only road, which is why the question worth answering first is whether the boat is running.
