His work appears journals such as Grain, Prairie Fire, The Southern Review, and The Malahat Review, and has been cited as a Best American Essays Notable. Ellen Schwartz, author of 19 award-winning books for children, as well as two non-fiction books for adults, will be hosting the event. Books will be available to purchase from the author (cash or credit/debit). About the Book Suggestions is an unusual poetry collection. It is a Venn diagram that overlaps poetry with prose, personal subject matter with environmental concerns, humour with poignancy, and accessible language with emotional depth. With an often playful tone, these pieces attend to the ways the past and memory continue to shape us. These plainspoken poems are easy to engage with, but they do cross-pollinate and compresses various emotions, so when read aloud, people have complex emotional responses: they’re amused, provoked, and moved.
