Join us for an afternoon with author Daniel Gawthrop as he discusses his latest book, Cutting Edge. This timely and deeply personal exploration of hockey through a queer lens weaves together memoir, cultural commentary, and sports history to examine how gender, masculinity, and sexuality have shaped Canada’s national game. From his own experiences in hockey to the growing visibility of LGBTQ+ players and fans, Gawthrop traces the sport’s progress toward inclusion while highlighting the challenges that remain. Inspired in part by the cultural phenomenon of Heated Rivalry, Cutting Edge offers an insightful and hopeful vision for the future of hockey. Copies of Cutting Edge will be available to purchase from Phoenix Books on Bowen. Drop-in, free event.
