“Be a Hummingbird & Do What You Can” Drop in at the Sp’áḵw’us Gathering Stage outside Bowen Island Library, and silkscreen your own hummingbird flag, and reflect on and commit to one of the 94 Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action, which will be on display. Dukdukdiya, the little hummingbird from the Quechan parable and illustrated here by local artist Michael Nicoll Yahgulanaas, inspires us to do what we can in the work of reconciliation ahead—single acts of courage and commitment. This event takes place on Nex̱wlélex̱wm (Bowen Island), the unceded territory of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation). Presented by SFU Centre for Restorative Justice. Supported by the Bowen Island Public Library. Find the book, The Little Hummingbird by Michael Nicoll Yahgulanaas, in the Bowen Island Library catalogue. Hummingbird artwork used with permission by the artist.
