Beginner-friendly metalworking fun! Learn the fundamentals of sweat soldering while creating your own layered mixed-metal pendant. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll work with copper and brass to design a one-of-a-kind pendant using layers of metal, texture and simple shapes. You’ll learn how to prepare and fit your pieces, apply solder, use a torch safely, and sweat solder the layers together for a strong, clean bond. We’ll also explore ways to add texture and dimension using traditional metalsmithing tools before finishing and polishing your pendant. No previous jewellery-making experience is necessary. This is a great introduction to torch soldering and an opportunity to get comfortable with some of the tools and techniques used in silversmithing.
